Ruelo Zendo was born, raised, and is based in Quezon City, Philippines. An alumnus of the Mowelfund Film Institute, most of his films were grant recipients from art and media institutions. His feature film, Kolorete, was awarded Jury Prize at the 2008 Cinema One Originals. He won the 1st Prize at the 2014 Gawad CCP para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Bidyo, and a Filmmaker of the Future Prize at the 2015 Salamindanaw International Film Festival for his short feature, Kasaysayan ng Isang Ina. His short film, Divine XY, was awarded Gold Prize at the 2018 Viddsee Juree Philippines. Ruelo attended and received filmmaking training in Los Angeles, Jakarta, and Busan. He’s been selected as a fellow for the 2020 Asia Pacific Screen Lab. Ruelo previously worked as a director for notable television documentaries. He is currently working on his screenplay for his next feature film project.
